Data Shows Surge in Gender Confirmation Surgeries

According to recent data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, gender confirmation surgeries are up almost 20% from 2015 to 2016, with more than 2,300 gender confirmation surgeries being performed in 2016. Until recently, these procedures were not easily available to prospective patients. The increase in popularity of transgender procedures has allowed for easier access, more coverage, and more acceptance of the surgeries overall. These procedures, often completed by Dr. Loren Schechter, have played an important part in the recent growth and popularity of gender transition surgeries.
