Iris A. Seitz M.D. PhD

Dr. Iris A. Seitz combines cutting edge technologies with precise surgical technique and her unique international experience to improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Iris (pronounced Ear-iss) A. Seitz, a native of Berlin, Germany received her medical degree at Freie Universitat Berlin, and her PhD, summa cum laude, in neuroscience at Charite University Medicine Berlin. She completed her residency in general and plastic surgery at The University of Chicago Medical Center. Dr. Seitz received additional training in reconstructive microsurgery, supermicorsurgery and craniofacial surgery, with an emphasis on facial nerve disorders, functional muscle transfers, peripheral nerve surgery, lymphedema surgery and pediatric plastic surgery at internationally renowned medical centers in Europe, Taiwan, Korea and Israel.

Dr. Seitz is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery and an associate member of the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Plastische, Rekonstruktive und Aesthetische Chirugie (DGPRAEC = German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery). Dr. Seitz functions as the Director of Research and International Collaboration at University Plastic Surgery and holds an Appointment as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Chicago Medical School, Rosalind Franklin University.

Dr. Seitz has authored and co-authored numerous scientific manuscripts and presented her work nationally and internationally. Her clinical interests include aesthetic facial reconstruction, complex microsurgical reconstruction of the face, focusing on facial paralysis and complex facial deformities in both children and adults, peripheral nerve disorders, migraine surgery and supermicrosurgical treatment of lymphedema. Dr. Seitz is fluent in German and conversational in Swedish.
